Kindness. Contemplation. Creation. Connection.
Today I received a lovely Email from Stephanie Hamilton-Oravetz and Frank Oravetz, a couple who are from San Francisco who maintain a blog called Visual Ovation. They were in Vancouver following the Stanley Cup riots and decided to come downtown to see for themselves what had happened. They are artists and lovers of the variety of art that surrounds us. What is lovely about their blog is that they understand the importance of awareness. We are so often stuck in our heads that we miss the compelling, to use their term, in the every day things that might escape our eye. They photograph those things and then post them on their blog. The Kindness Flag Project asks us to consider things we might miss, or perhaps take for granted, and then manifest these concepts into something that can be transformed from an abstraction into something concrete, like their quest to find the compelling in their daily lives and capture them in images.
I hope you will visit their blogs and take the time to leisurely browse through their photos. It is a pleasure to see the world through other people’s perspective.
Many thanks to Stephanie and Frank for sharing their stories and photos.
